Directions & Dosage

• Dosage:

  • 5 ml (1 tsp) per 4 U.S. gallons (15 L)
  • 8 oz (1 cup) per 190 U.S. gallons (337.5 L)
  • This dose maintains a copper level of ~2.0 ppm
  • No redosing necessary for up to one month

• Treatment Time:

  • Varies based on the infection being treated

• For Best Results:

  • Use in a quarantine tank

• During Treatment:

  • Remove ion-exchange resins and heavy metal adsorbing filter pads
  • Discontinue use of skimmer
  • Carbon does NOT need to be removed
  • UV Sterilizer can be used

• Caution:

  • Use with caution on aquariums with scaleless fish and copper-sensitive livestock
  • Do not use with fish species known to be sensitive to copper
  • NOT SAFE for use with invertebrates (corals, snails, shrimp, clams, jellyfish, other crustaceans, mollusks) – remove these before dosing
  • May be harmful to plants and amphibians

• Other Notes:

  • No contraindications: can be used with all other products and medications, including ACCR and Complete
  • The 8 oz and 16 oz bottle caps are approximately 5 mL for easy measuring
  • Only one dose needed to achieve therapeutic copper level of 1.5-2.0 ppm (no second dose required)
  • To prevent accidental overdose, add 1/4 or 1/2 dose and test before adding more copper

• Water Changes:

  • If water changes are necessary, treat the replacement water with Coppersafe to maintain therapeutic copper levels

• Overdose:

  • If overdosed, perform large water changes immediately until copper levels drop below 2 ppm
  • Test with a reliable copper test kit that measures above 2.0 ppm total copper, or a kit for chelated copper

• Post-Treatment:

  • After treatment, remove copper with water changes or use a copper-specific adsorbing resin or polyfilter until copper level reaches zero
