Description

Introduction The Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp is a captivating freshwater invertebrate renowned for its striking appearance. Characterized by a deep blue body adorned with dark tiger stripes and accentuated by vibrant orange eyes, this shrimp is a prized addition to any aquarium.

Scientific Name Caridina cf. cantonensis

Water Quality Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp thrive in soft, acidic water conditions. Maintaining stable parameters is crucial for their health and longevity.

pH Level Optimal pH range is between 6.0 and 7.0. Fluctuations should be minimal.

GH Level A low to moderate GH level of 3-6 degrees is preferred.

KH Level A low KH level of 1-2 degrees is ideal.

Feeding These shrimp are omnivores and readily accept a variety of foods. High-quality shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables are suitable options. Occasional supplementation with live or frozen foods is beneficial.

Tank Mates Peaceful, small-sized fish and shrimp species are ideal tank mates. Avoid aggressive or predatory fish that may pose a threat.

Substrates and Tank Decorations A fine-grained substrate rich in organic matter is beneficial. Smooth stones, driftwood, and Java moss provide hiding spots and enhance the shrimp’s environment.

Suitable Plants Java moss, Anubias, and Bucephalandra are excellent plant choices. These plants offer hiding spots, spawning sites, and contribute to water quality.

Sexing Breeding Females are larger than males and possess a brood pouch visible on their underside when carrying eggs. Breeding occurs in suitable conditions, and shrimplets hatch from the eggs.

Maximum Size and Longevity Adult Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp typically reach a size of 2-3 centimeters. Their lifespan can range from 1 to 2 years.

Behavior These shrimp are primarily nocturnal and exhibit peaceful behavior. They are often observed foraging for food and exploring their surroundings.

Things to Consider Before Buying Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp require specific water parameters and a stable environment. Researching their care requirements is essential before acquiring them.

General Information Regular water changes, proper filtration, and consistent water parameters are crucial for the well-being of these shrimp.

A Fun Fact Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp are a result of selective breeding and exhibit a wide range of color variations within the species.
