Warranty coverage (quick read)

Please read the relevant section carefully before lodging a warranty claim. Warranty may be void where products are incorrectly installed, used outside intended conditions, modified, or damaged due to misuse. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.

Fish Tanks (Glass Aquariums)

Fish tanks sold by Roxy Aquarium come with a 2-year leakage warranty, covering manufacturing defects related to sealing and structural integrity.

Aquariums must be placed on a flat, level surface with a styrofoam or foam mat underneath to ensure even pressure distribution. Tanks cracked or damaged due to uneven surfaces, missing foam mats, incorrect installation, twisting during lifting, or impact/handling damage are not eligible for warranty.

Cabinets & Stands

Wooden aquarium cabinets and stands are not waterproof. Water that trickles, spills, or pools into cabinetry may cause swelling, warping, delamination, or structural damage.

Water damage to cabinets is considered user-caused damage and is not covered under warranty. Please wipe spills immediately and ensure proper plumbing, maintenance, and splash protection.

Electrical Products (General)

Electrical products sold by Roxy Aquarium come with a 1-year store warranty, unless otherwise stated on the product listing or packaging.

Any additional warranty offered by the manufacturer is not administered by Roxy Aquarium and must be claimed directly with the manufacturer.

Aquarium Lights

Aquarium lights are not waterproof unless explicitly stated on the product packaging or manufacturer specifications (e.g. IP rating).

Many decorative or “fancy” lights can be damaged by moisture, evaporation, condensation, or splashing. Damage caused by water exposure where the product is not rated for it is not covered under warranty.

Heaters

Aquarium heaters are designed to be fully submerged under water at all times. Operating a heater outside the water or with exposed heating elements can cause the glass to shatter and poses a serious electrical hazard.

Heater cords are designed to be safe for submersion. If a heater is operated outside the water, run dry, or exposed above the waterline, the warranty is void.

Filters & Pumps

Filters and pumps must not be run dry. Operating these products without water can permanently damage the motor.

Motor failure caused by dry running, incorrect priming, blocked intakes due to lack of maintenance, incorrect installation, or misuse is not covered under warranty.

For branded filter products such as Fluval, Aqua One, Orca, Petworx, warranty remedies are provided in accordance with Australian Consumer Law (ACL) — typically repair first, replacement second, or store credit/refund where applicable.

Misuse & Consequential Damage

Any damage caused by incorrect use, misuse, modification, neglect, or failure to follow product instructions is not covered under warranty. This includes damage caused to the product itself, other equipment, and surrounding property.

Live Fish Warranty

Roxy Aquarium does not provide any guarantee or warranty on live fish purchases. We only cover DOA Osborne (Dead on Arrival) where the fish is deceased in the original shipping bag before introduction into your aquarium, and the claim meets our DOA policy requirements.

Once a fish is released into the aquarium, all responsibility transfers to the customer. Please refer to our Live Fish DOA Policy for full details.

Chemicals, Medications & Water Treatments

We sell chemicals marketed as fish-safe when used as directed. However, Roxy Aquarium does not hold responsibility for any damage or loss caused by chemical use, including correct use, incorrect use, mixing products, or overdosing.

Any complaints or warranty claims relating to chemicals must be directed to the manufacturer.

Exclusions & General Warranty Conditions

Warranty generally does not cover:

  • Impact damage, drops, glass breakage, or transport damage after it leaves the store
  • Incorrect installation, incorrect setup, misuse, neglect, or modification
  • Second-hand items or products transferred to another owner
  • Consumable parts and normal wear and tear (e.g., filter media, bulbs/LED degradation, seals, O-rings, impellers)
  • Environmental or external factors (power surges, blackouts, humidity/condensation exposure where not rated)
  • Damage caused by pests, corrosion, or improper cleaning/chemicals

Australian Consumer Law (ACL)

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

This warranty information does not limit your rights under ACL.

Important: Please retain proof of purchase and contact us before returning any item. We may request photos/videos and/or testing before approving a remedy. Products returned without prior assessment or approval may be refused.
