Hygrophila willow also known as the willow hygro is an extremely attractive aquarium plant, native to Southeast Asia. It has large stems with narrow leaves that sway in the current like weeping willow tree. This plant can be grown emersed or submersed. This plant grows fast and also helps water in the aquarium to be clean by removing nitrates. It requires slightly more light than other hygros, nutrients, trace elements and sufficient CO2 (optional) to grow at its best. This plant will produce lots of side shoots. For propagation, simple cut along the stem and replant the cuttings. Remove any leaves from the bottom 1-2 inch of the stem and new root growth will form the last node on the stem. It can grow upto 50 centimeters in height. It belongs to Genus Hygrophila.
